Veteran-led milsim

ShadowCo delivers realistic milsim activities led by experienced veterans, focused on teamwork, leadership and operating under pressure.

Activities are built around uncertainty, limited information and realistic constraints. Participants are expected to think, communicate and act as a team, not as individuals.

Training

ShadowCo training prepares participants to function effectively as part of a small unit under realistic conditions. The focus is not on drills or instruction for its own sake, but on developing judgement, coordination and discipline before pressure is increased.

Training environment
Training with vehicles

Training scenarios are deliberately unscripted. Participants are required to establish communications, move through terrain, manage limited resources and assess evolving situations without predefined outcomes or constant guidance.

Emphasis is placed on observation, communication and decision making with incomplete information. Participants learn to operate within a team, understand their role, and adapt when plans degrade or assumptions prove incorrect.

Scenario-based training
Realistic scenarios

Training exists to build a common baseline and shared understanding. It prepares participants to operate credibly during milsim activities, where sustained pressure, fatigue and uncertainty become the primary challenges.

Milsim

ShadowCo milsim activities place participants in extended, scenario based environments where training is applied continuously under realistic operational conditions. The focus is on coordinated team function, not individual performance.

Activities run uninterrupted over a 72-hour period. Participants operate under sustained pressure, limited resources and evolving conditions, while maintaining discipline, communication and situational awareness. Objectives change, information degrades and plans require constant reassessment.

Operational environment
Short days, long nights

Throughout the activity, teams are responsible for their own effectiveness. Communications procedures, spectrum discipline and fieldcraft are not treated as isolated skills but as essential enablers for movement, coordination and decision making over extended periods without external support.

Patrol operations
Patrol operations

Participants are expected to function as an integrated unit, adhere to assigned roles and maintain operational discipline under fatigue. Leadership is exercised where required and evaluated in practice, through planning, coordination and responsibility for team outcomes.

Sustained operations
Hard work equals fun

Each activity concludes with a structured after action review focused on how decisions were made, how communication and coordination held up under pressure, and which constraints most affected performance during sustained selfreliant operation.

Operational focus
Stay sharp

ShadowCo milsim is not competition or spectacle. It is a controlled but demanding environment intended to reinforce operational thinking, professional conduct and reliable teamwork under realistic constraints.

Survival

At ShadowCo this is referred to as surthrival.

Survival training focused on selfreliance, adaptability and sound judgement when conditions are uncertain. Activities take place in natural environments and are adapted to the experience and objectives of the participants.

The emphasis is on practical, transferable life skills: understanding terrain, managing limited resources, maintaining basic communication and remaining effective when support is reduced or unavailable.

Surthrival
Cold nights

Programmes are conducted in small groups and typically take the form of a two day field activity with an overnight stay. Training is delivered in controlled outdoor environments, with preparation, safety and responsible use of resources as constant considerations.

Surthrival
Firecraft

Core subjects include shelter construction, firecraft, water sourcing, navigation and basic fieldcraft for operating independently outdoors.

Where activities are conducted in groups, attention is given to cooperative survival: moving together through terrain, maintaining situational awareness and using radios and simple field communication methods where appropriate.

Surthrival
Minimal camp

The objective is not endurance for its own sake, but practical competence and informed decision-making. Participants learn to care for themselves and others, and to remain calm, effective and responsible when circumstances are less predictable.

Beyond immediate application, these skills often develop into a lasting interest: spending time outdoors with confidence, purpose and respect for the environment.
